Benefits

Iron is an essential mineral that plays a crucial role in various bodily functions, including oxygen transport, energy production, and immune function. It is a key component of haemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen throughout the body. Iron deficiency is the most common deficiency in the world. Females of reproductive age are at an increased risk of low iron due to blood loss each month. Many don’t get enough through diet and what they do eat is not always well absorbed. Researchers followed 3,000 women for over 10 years and found that those who consumed more than 20 milligrams (mg) per day of iron sources were 30 to 40 % less likely to develop PMS. Chronic low iron levels can lead to anaemia, resulting in fatigue, weakness, dizziness, headaches, and shortness of breath. Insufficient iron also drains energy, worsening menstruation-related fatigue.

Evidence

  • A study found women who ate the most nonheme iron (the form of iron found in plant foods and fortified cereals) were about one-third less likely to get PMS than women who ate the least
  • Our formula contains iron bisglycinate, a well absorbed vegan form of iron that is gentle on your digestive tract and less likely to cause unwanted side effects like constipation
